Keep Being You - Serve Others

Have you ever noticed that sometimes, nice people are taken for granted? They go out of their way to serve others, and yet their kindness is often overlooked or underappreciated. It's a common phenomenon that raises the question of why do people take for granted nice people?
One possible explanation is that nice people often want to serve and please others. They are naturally empathetic and compassionate, and they derive satisfaction from making others happy. In some cases, this desire to serve can be interpreted as weakness or submissiveness, which can lead to being taken for granted.
Another reason why nice people may be taken for granted is that they are seen as easy targets for exploitation. They are often willing to give more than they receive and can be taken advantage of by people who are looking to benefit from their kindness.
Another possibility is that people already have the approval of nice people, so they don't feel the need to validate or appreciate them. When someone consistently behaves in a kind and supportive manner, it's easy to take that behavior for granted and assume that it will always be there.
Moreover, sometimes people go out of their way to seek validation and approval from individuals who have no intention of giving it. This can lead to ignoring the support and care of those who are consistently kind and helpful.
Nice people may also be underappreciated because their efforts are not always visible or tangible. Acts of kindness and support are often intangible and hard to quantify, so they can be easily overlooked or undervalued.
It's important to recognize the contributions of nice people and not take them for granted. Kindness and support should never be taken for granted or assumed. People who consistently show up, serve, and support others should be acknowledged, appreciated, and celebrated.
In conclusion, nice people may be taken for granted because their behavior is often seen as weakness, they can be seen as easy targets for exploitation, people already have their approval, or their efforts may be invisible or intangible. However, it's crucial to recognize and appreciate the kindness and support of these individuals. They often serve as the backbone of communities and help to create a more compassionate and supportive world.

Parents should be Parents and Coaches should be Coaches

Sports have always been an essential aspect of our lives, as they not only help us stay fit and healthy but also teach us important life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience. However, when it comes to children participating in sports, it is crucial for parents to understand their boundaries and allow coaches to do their jobs. Parents are not coaches, and coaches should never try to be parents. If we all work on the areas that are suited to each of us, the athlete will be connected, strong, and feel supported in their goals.

It is understandable that parents want the best for their children, but it is essential to recognize that coaches have expertise in developing the skills and abilities of young athletes. Coaches spend countless hours planning and designing training programs to enhance the performance of their athletes. Therefore, parents should trust and respect the decisions made by coaches and let them do their job.

Parents should also realize that too much emphasis on winning can be a problem. While winning is an essential aspect of sports, it should not be the only focus. As a coach, they need to concentrate on the athletes' skills, thinking, safety, and learning as well as their well-being. The coach's role is to provide guidance and mentorship, not just on the playing field but also off it. This includes helping athletes develop a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and effective communication skills.

On the other hand, parents should focus on supporting their child's goals, talking them through tough times, helping them face losing and winning correctly, and not blaming equipment, other athletes, coach, or teams for their defeat. It is important to recognize that losing is a part of the sports experience, and it is an opportunity for athletes to learn from their mistakes and grow. Parents should help their children understand the value of hard work, perseverance, and dedication.

Another important aspect for parents to keep in mind is their role in creating a positive and supportive environment for their child. This includes showing interest in their child's athletic pursuits, attending games and practices, and providing emotional support when needed. Parents can also foster positive relationships with other parents and coaches, which can help create a positive team culture and enhance the overall sports experience for all involved.

In conclusion, it is essential for parents to know their boundaries when it comes to their child's involvement in sports. Coaches have the expertise and experience to guide and mentor young athletes, while parents should focus on providing emotional support and creating a positive and supportive environment. When we all work on the areas that are suited to each of us, the athlete will be connected, strong, and feel supported in their goals. Remember, sports are not just about winning but also about learning important life skills that will help young athletes succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Jair Lynch is a name that is synonymous with excellence in gymnastics. The former Olympian has had a long and illustrious career in the sport, achieving numerous accolades that have made him a household name. However, his impact on the sport goes beyond his personal achievements. Lynch has been a pioneer in the sport of gymnastics, paving the way for future generations of black athletes and making history during Black History Month.

Lynch's career in gymnastics began at an early age, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already a rising star in the sport. He went on to become a three-time U.S. national champion, a two-time World Championship team member, and a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team. He also became the first African American gymnast to win a medal at the Pan American Games in 1995, earning a bronze medal on the high bar.

Lynch's accomplishments in the sport of gymnastics are impressive, but his impact on the black community is even more significant. As a black athlete in a sport that was predominantly white, Lynch faced numerous challenges and obstacles. However, he persevered, and his success has inspired many young black athletes to pursue their dreams in gymnastics.
Lynch's success in the sport has also helped to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes about black athletes. He has shown that black athletes can excel in any sport, and his achievements have paved the way for other black gymnasts to follow in his footsteps.

Furthermore, Lynch has been a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in gymnastics. He has been a strong proponent of creating opportunities for underrepresented communities and has worked to increase access to the sport for young athletes from diverse backgrounds.

Biles' gymnastics career began at a young age, and by the time she was 14, she had already won her first national championship. Since then, she has continued to dominate the sport, setting records and winning medals in multiple events.

At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Biles won four gold medals in the all-around, vault, floor exercise, and team events. She also won a bronze medal on the balance beam. Her performance at the games was truly remarkable, and cemented her status as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.

Biles continued her winning streak at the 2018 World Championships, where she won four gold medals and a bronze. In 2019, she made history by becoming the first woman to ever attempt and land a triple-double during a competition. She also won five gold medals at the 2019 World Championships, bringing her total number of world championship medals to 19.

In addition to her incredible athletic achievements, Biles has also become an important role model and advocate for mental health. She has been open about her own struggles with anxiety and depression, and has used her platform to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in sports.

As a black woman, Biles has also brought pride and honor to February being Black History Month. She has broken down barriers and shattered stereotypes in a sport that has historically been dominated by white athletes. Her success has inspired countless young girls, especially girls of color, to pursue their dreams and to believe in their own abilities.
